Job summary

Catholic Recruitment is seeking an experienced Cover Supervisor to cover classes across all subject areas for a popular co-educational 11-16 school in the region. The role is ideal for graduates or teaching assistants seeking classroom experience in a secondary school.

You will supervise pupils, manage behaviour, explain set work, and support teachers. The position runs 30 hours per week, term time plus five training days, with DBS checks required.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising pupils across subjects and age ranges.
• Strong communication and engagement with students.
• Ability to respond quickly and stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Explain and supervise the set work while covering for absent teachers.
• Manage pupil behaviour and maintain a constructive environment.
• Respond to questions and address immediate issues per school policy.
• Collect completed work and return it to the teacher.
• Report behaviour or issues using referral procedures.
• Assist pastoral support team when cover is not required.
