Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking confident and professional Secondary Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across the Eastleigh area. This role offers day-to-day or long-term opportunities to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting students and schools.

You will supervise lessons in the absence of the regular teacher, deliver pre-prepared materials, and help maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement in a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Calm, professional and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to supervise KS3/KS4 classes effectively.
• Interest in teaching and education is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes across KS3 and KS4 in the absence of the class teacher.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions.
• Ensure students remain focused and engaged with their learning.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Support students with lesson activities where appropriate.
• Cover a range of subjects across the secondary curriculum.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding lesson outcomes.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
• Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently.

Secondary Cover Supervisor - Eastleigh

Prospero Teaching is recruiting confident and professional Secondary Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across the Eastleigh area. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting students and schools on a day‑to‑day or long‑term basis.

As a Secondary Cover Supervisor, you will supervise lessons in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain engaged with their learning and complete the work that has been set. You will play an important role in maintaining a positive learning environment and supporting high standards of behaviour across the classroom.

The Role:

• Supervise classes across KS3 and KS4 in the absence of the class teacher
• Deliver pre‑prepared lesson materials and instructions
• Ensure students remain focused and engaged with their learning
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
• Support students with lesson activities where appropriate
• Cover a range of subjects across the secondary curriculum
• Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding lesson outcomes
• Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
• Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience working with young people
• Confident leading groups of students independently
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Graduates and aspiring teachers encouraged to apply
• Previous experience in education, coaching, tutoring, or youth work beneficial

Contract Details:

• Position: Secondary Cover Supervisor
• Location: Eastleigh
• Start Date: ASAP
• Working Pattern: Full‑time or flexible opportunities available
• Pay Rate: Up to £130 per day
• Key Stages: KS3 & KS4

Experience, Training & Safeguarding:

• Experience working with young people essential
• Classroom experience beneficial but not essential
• Safeguarding training can be provided
