Job summary

Academics in the Chester area is seeking a dynamic Secondary Chemistry Teacher for September start. The role covers flexible daily supply, short-term, and long-term postings across supportive secondary schools in and around Chester.

You will teach Chemistry and General Science to KS3/KS4 (with KS5 opportunities for specialists). The post requires UK QTS and a Chemistry-related degree, with strong classroom management and safeguarding commitments. DBS update service preferred.

Qualifications

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status and a degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Strong command of the UK National Curriculum for Chemistry and General Science across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver Chemistry and General Science lessons across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 opportunities for specialists).
  • Flexibly cover daily supply, short-term absences, and long-term placements as required.
  • Supervise safe laboratory work and enforce lab protocols while fostering scientific enquiry.
  • Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and lab safety.

Requirements

Compliance & Location: An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) and the ability to commute around Chester and surrounding Cheshire West areas.
