Job summary

Wrexham County Borough Council in Wales seeks a dynamic Secondary and Sixth Form School Improvement Officer to lead improvement across 11–19 education, working with headteachers, senior leaders and partners to raise standards.

You will drive self-evaluation, data-informed planning and strategic improvement in literacy, numeracy, science or digital competence; build partnerships and mentor leaders to ensure consistency and equity for all learners.

Qualifications

  • Has successful senior leadership experience (e.g. Headteacher, Deputy Head, or equivalent).
  • Has a proven track record of improving school outcomes.
  • Demonstrates deep knowledge of school improvement, curriculum, and assessment practices.
  • Is skilled in data analysis, evaluation, and quality assurance.

We’re looking for an outstanding educational leader with a passion for improving outcomes for young people to join our Education Effectiveness team.


As a Secondary and Post-16 School Improvement Officer, you will play a pivotal strategic role in driving sustained school improvement across Wrexham. Working alongside headteachers, senior leaders, governors, and national partners, you will support, challenge, and inspire schools to deliver the highest quality education for all learners aged 0-19.


This is a high-impact leadership role where you will:



  • Lead and support school improvement across secondary and post-16 settings

  • Provide robust professional dialogue, guidance and support to school leaders
