Job summary

V.Group presents a contract role for a Second Safety Officer aboard Orient Express Olymian, onboard the Orient Express sailing yachts. The position reports to the Master/Staff Captain and sits in the Deck department, with embarkation in March 2027 and a 2 months on/off contract.

The role requires STCW-compliant qualifications and company-specific training per form C601d, with duties including bridge watchkeeping as OOW and extensive safety-related responsibilities across safety training,

Qualifications

• Qualification: As per applicable requirements of IMO STCW Convention (as amended) and company training requirements per form C601d.
• Experience: As per Company Recruitment & Promotion Experience Requirements per form C601d.

Responsibilities

• Bridge watchkeeping: maintain watch as OOW during assigned shifts (e.g., 0800–1200 and 2000–2400).
• Safety training: conduct safety trainings following company procedures, muster list and shipboard safety rules.
• Safety maintenance: oversee maintenance of firefighting and lifesaving equipment; report defects to Master.
• Lifting equipment: monitor and ensure certification and maintenance of lifting gear; verify SWL on items.
• Mooring and tender operations: supervise mooring stations and assist tender operations as needed.
• Communications: manage GMDSS operations, radio traffic, inspections, testing and record-keeping.
