This is a fantastic role for an experienced, ambitious Maths teacher who is eager to develop in their career.
Through our trust network (Lift Schools), we can offer you the possibility to gain your National Professional qualifications, the ability to massively expand your personal and professional network through our curriculum links and professional development days across the trust and the opportunity to mentor student teachers, if this is an area you were interested in.
Our Mathematics department is an ambitious, rapidly improving department, with a positive Progress 8 score (having improved by 0.3 over the past 3 years) and our 4+ GCSE results last year was 69%. We have a well-resourced curriculum, teaching OCR Foundation and Edexcel for Higher Maths, but the Head of Department is open, supportive and always eager to always consider new, improved methods of teaching. The department works collaboratively, making the most of their protected co-planning time.
Outside of school hours, many of the department enjoy regularly playing sports together and they have frequent team socials. We strongly believe in a healthy work-life balance so there is a streamlined approach to marking and assessment, which runs alongside digital tools to reduce teacher workload. Mathematics is a popular subject at Winton and our students love to get involved in field trips and extra-curricular activities.
The team is vibrant, energetic and fun and loves to share ideas and work together to make every day interesting and rewarding.

About Winton Community Academy:
We are a popular secondary school with a great reputation within the local community. The school boasts fantastic facilities, which includes a MUGA, a recently refurbished library and gymnasium, new music suite, dance studios, animal management area and expansive grounds. In addition to this, we have recently celebrated the opening of our brand new £5m expansion building, which includes a full size school hall, two state of the art science laboratories and two additional classrooms, as well as new toilet facilities. We are also pleased to have recently opened our renovated 'Inclusion Space' which has bespoke classrooms and breakout space for our nurture and SEND students.
The school maintained a 'Good' grade in the latest visit by Ofsted in 2023. We pride ourselves on a culture of high support and high expectations, and we have excellent relationships with families and the community who work closely with us to ensure every child receives an excellent education.
