Job summary

Care UK is seeking an aspiring chef to join our award-winning catering team as a Second Chef. In a high-paced kitchen you’ll help lead service, support the Head Chef and create nutritious menus for residents.

You’ll have a Catering Diploma (City & Guilds/BTEC) and NVQ 2/3 in practical cookery, plus Food Hygiene Certs (level 2). If you’ve worked in care settings or with budgets, that’s a bonus. We offer great training, work-life balance and clear career progression.

Qualifications

• Catering diploma/quals required and relevant health & safety knowledge.
• Ability to plan nutritionally balanced menus and address dietary needs.
• Experience or willingness to work in a care-home catering environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead in kitchen in Head Chef's absence and maintain service standards.
• Develop menus with residents and ensure meals meet dietary requirements.
• Use modern kitchen equipment and local produce to deliver nutritious meals.
