Job summary

Cotswold Archaeology in Andover is seeking an Experienced Archaeologist for a fixed-term contract of six months. The role involves contributing to fieldwork projects, recording data, supervising machine excavation, and mentoring junior staff. Immediate start available with opportunities to train and work on away projects.

Salary £29,844 and a range of worker benefits are provided; candidates should have proven commercial archaeology experience and be able to operate Leica GPS equipment.

Qualifications

• Proven competence in commercial field archaeology and recording investigation data.
• Ability to supervise machine excavation and mentor junior staff.
• Experience in fieldwork, recording with pro-forma sheets and GPS surveying.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to fieldwork projects including fieldwalking, evaluation, excavation and finds processing.
• Record data accurately using appropriate sheets, drawings and photographs.
• Undertake machine supervision and GPS survey as delegated by the Project Leader.
• Assist in mentoring and training less experienced staff.
• Complete rapid manual excavation and interpret investigation data.
