Job summary

Royal Mail invites applications for its seasonal Christmas team at Southampton Mail Centre. No prior warehouse or sorting experience is required; bring enthusiasm and we’ll provide the rest. Seasonal duties include unloading, moving, and sorting mail with various shift patterns.

Night shifts run 22:00–06:00 with a rate of £16.44 per hour. You’ll work in a busy warehouse environment with facilities on-site; applications are encouraged promptly due to high demand.

Qualifications

• Able to work on your feet and handle items up to 11kg.

• Willing to rotate tasks and shifts as needed.

Tis the season to be earning a little extra

As a Seasonal Mail Sorter, you'll help process millions of cards, gifts, and parcels during our busiest time of year. Your duties will include:

• Unloading letters and parcels from delivery lorries
• Moving mail safely around our sorting centres and warehouses
• Helping sort letters and parcels quickly and accurately

We have a variety of shift patterns available at Southampton Mail Centre, Mitchell Way, SOUTHAMPTON, SO18 2XX, including the following core shift patterns:

• Nights: 22:00 - 06:00 (£16.44 p/h) Mon 00:00-06:30, Tue 22:30-06:30, Wed, Thu, Fri 23:00-06:30

Please note, night shifts are not available to applicants under 18 years old.

Depending on location, you may have access to facilities such as on-site canteens, break areas, social spaces and subsidised gym facilities.

What you'll need to join the team

You don't need any previous warehouse operative, mail or parcel sorting experience. We're looking for people who:

• Have a positive attitude and team spirit.
• Are organised and able to work independently and as part of a team in a busy environment.
• Enjoy active, hands-on work, including working on your feet, pushing / pulling trolleys (up to 250kg with wheels!), and handling items up to 11kg.
• Are flexible and happy to switch tasks when needed.
