At MOTORS, we like to say that we know MOTORS!

Millions of people come to us every month to find their next car, because we keep the car search process simple. We have hundreds of thousands of used cars listed for sale by dealers nationwide, and guides, advice, tips, and reviews to help buyers find the right one. We don't just help consumers, though.

For our dealer partners, we offer a unique advertising ecosystem that allows them to get their cars seen by buyers across some of the UK’s biggest car search sites: MOTORS, Cazoo, eBay, Gumtree, and Parkers.

In 2024, we acquired Cazoo, one of the UK’s most recognised automotive brands, marking the start of an exciting new chapter. We’re now building on Cazoo’s strong brand recognition to create the next-generation car search experience—one that’s simpler, smarter, and more transparent.

We’re excited about what’s ahead, and we’re looking for ambitious, adaptable team members who thrive in a fast-moving, evolving business.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced SEO Manager to join our team on a 1-year maternity cover contract. In this role, you will be instrumental in driving organic growth, increasing website traffic and rankings, and enhancing lead generation across Cazoo and MOTORS.

You will be responsible for developing and executing data-driven SEO strategies, leading technical SEO initiatives, and optimising content marketing efforts. Working directly with product, tech, engineers, and content teams, you will ensure SEO best practices are embedded across the business.

Reports To: Senior Digital Growth Manager

Contract Type: FTC (12 Month Contract)

Location: Remote

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and own the SEO roadmap, aligning strategies with business objectives to increase organic traffic and leads.
  • Drive end-to-end SEO execution, including technical SEO, on-page optimisation, and content strategy.
  • Identify content gaps, conduct competitor analysis, and implement SEO improvements to maximise performance.

Technical SEO & Site Performance

  • Lead technical SEO efforts, including Core Web Vitals, site speed optimisation, internal linking improvements, and structured data implementation.
  • Use tools like Botify, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, and Google Search Console to audit and enhance website performance.
  • Work with development teams to ensure SEO best practices are implemented across all web assets.
  • Oversee the blog strategy, ensuring content is optimised for search visibility and user engagement.
  • Collaborate with the brand and PR teams to provide SEO guidance for Digital PR campaigns.
  • Conduct keyword research and competitor analysis to drive content ideation and execution.
  • Develop and execute A/B tests to experiment with new SEO tactics and drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and analyse performance using Google Analytics, Looker Studio, and Ahrefs, providing actionable insights.
  • Stay ahead of SEO trends, algorithm updates, and AI advancements, leveraging new opportunities for growth.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, product, engineers, and analytics teams to align SEO efforts with broader business goals.
  • Communicate SEO performance updates and strategic recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.

About you:

  • Proven experience managing SEO campaigns with a proven track record of driving organic growth.
  • Expertise in on-page, off-page, and technical SEO best practices.
  • Proficiency in SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz, Botify, Screaming Frog, SEOMonitor, and Sistrix.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to extract insights from complex datasets.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working effectively across teams and stakeholders. Experience working directly with engineers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A proactive mindset, willing to experiment, test new ideas, and iterate based on results.
  • A good understanding of PPC and its relationship with SEO.

At MOTORS, we’re fearlessly committed to helping car buyers and dealers save time, money, and energy. If you’re ready to challenge the status quo, give it your all, and come out smiling, you’ll fit right in. You can expect a fast pace, plenty of support, and a commitment to work flexibility.
