Job summary

LGC is seeking an SDS Author in the Regulatory Compliance Team at its UK site in Bury. The role focuses on composing Safety Data Sheets and categorising products for distribution while mentoring colleagues on labelling according to global regulations.

You will interpret regulatory and Health, Environment, and Safety requirements and apply toxicology data for safe handling of chemicals, working both independently and with a small team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in toxicology, chemistry, biology or a related field; relevant experience considered.
• SDS authoring or product classification experience in chemicals/biology/pharma.
• Knowledge of transport regulations (IATA, ADR, DOT, etc.).
• Ability to apply toxicology and physics/chemistry data to safe handling of chemicals.
• Strong verbal and written communication to engage with technical and non-technical personnel.
• Ability to lead multiple assignments and meet deadlines within a team.

Responsibilities

• Formulate Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and provide labelling mentorship.
• Research and interpret regulatory requirements including HES, hazard evaluation, storage and transport.
• Ensure compliance with international and national regulations (GHS, CLP, REACH, OSHA, WHMIS, HazCom2012).
• Draft SDS documents and align labelling with global regulations and internal policies.
• Lead new processes with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Collaborate within a team and work autonomously when needed.
