Job summary

Securitas is hiring a Screening Officer in Newport. The role involves safeguarding people and property, using screening tools, and reporting activities to maintain high security standards. You’ll engage with colleagues and visitors, delivering exceptional service while upholding company values.

Mandatory training is required from day one. The position offers 30 hours per week with on-site parking and opportunities for development and mentorship within the organisation.

Qualifications

• SIA licence is required to operate in security roles.
• Driving licence is often needed for site access and mobility.
• Proven experience in security or data centre operations is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to and apply the Screening SOPs.
• Perform hand-held wand searches and metal detector checks.
• Monitor access points and report safety or security issues.
• Follow incident procedures and notify supervisors as required.

Job Description

Responsibilities

You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:

• Adhere to and apply the Screening Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Require datacentre personnel to utilise metal detection and/or wand for secure area access
• Follow security breach procedures by notifying supervisors or other appropriate personnel
• Perform hand‑held wand searches and walk‑through metal detection searches
• Follow safe work practices and be aware of company policies and procedures related to job safety.Notify superiors of any unsafe working conditions
• Demonstrate understanding and engagement with the Securitas Core Values of Integrity, Vigilance and Helpfulness, whilst showing a natural ability to recognise risk within the workplace and consider safety as a priority, complying with relevant policies, procedures and training as provided by the Company
• Monitor traffic flow through screening checkpoints

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who sees a different world—someone who values teamwork, shows initiative, and wants to grow. Ideally, you’ll have:

• SIA licence
• Driving licence
• Proven experience in datacentre operations or equivalent security industry experience; or equivalent experience in forces/services
• The right to work in the UK, with a 5-year checkable history
• Reliable and great team player
• Strong communication skills in English—both written and spoken
