Job summary

Cytiva, part of Danaher, in Portsmouth, is seeking a laboratory professional to support validation and lab operations. You will review requests, perform tests, record data, and help keep instruments and systems running on site.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Review job requests and safety data to understand testing requirements according to SOPs.
• Perform test work and record data, notifying management of delays or deviations.
• Review timelines and coordinate with laboratory management and project manager where necessary.
• Operate, understand and troubleshoot laboratory equipment/instrumentation.
• Maintain understanding of laboratory systems (purchasing, calibration, materials inventory).

This position reports to the Team Manager Validation and Lab Operations, located in Portsmouth, Hampshire and will be an on‑site role.

What you’ll do:

• Review job requests, relevant safety data and fully understand testing requirements in accordance with laboratory SOPs.
• Perform test work according to laboratory request requirements. Record raw data directly onto datasheets or electronically, immediately notifying laboratory management of any test delays, problems, or deviations.
• Review timelines and discuss schedule conflicts or modifications with laboratory management (and project manager, where necessary)
• Correctly operate, understand and be able to troubleshoot all equipment/instrumentation necessary to support testing.
• Understand how various laboratory systems (including purchasing, calibration, materials inventory) are maintained. Responsibility for maintenance of such a system may be assigned.

Who you are:

• Degree or equivalent in Science (Biological/Chemical/Engineering) or the equivalent work experience that provides knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories and concepts.
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques and measurement methods.
• Strong analytical skills to analyse test results and interpret data.
• Work safely and comply with the company’s health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
• Conversant with PC based programmes.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Understanding of GMP regulations
