Job summary

Cytiva in Portsmouth, part of Danaher, is seeking a Scientist I to support basic complexity lab projects for New Product Development and Manufacturing. The on-site role at Harbourgate reports to the Fast Trak Validation Services manager.

You will perform tests to protocol, record data, monitor timelines, operate and troubleshoot equipment, and coordinate with management to ensure timely delivery. Degree in Biological Science and GMP familiarity preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Biological Science or equivalent.
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques and measurement methods.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret data and test results.

Responsibilities

• Review job requests, relevant safety data and fully understand testing requirements in accordance with laboratory SOPs.
• Perform test work according to laboratory request requirements.
• Record raw data directly onto datasheets or electronically, notifying management of delays, problems or deviations.
• Review timelines and discuss schedule conflicts with laboratory management and project manager as needed.
• Operate, understand and troubleshoot equipment/instrumentation to support testing.
• Understand how laboratory systems (purchasing, calibration, materials inventory) are maintained.

The Scientist I is responsible for basic complexity laboratory projects. Generation of test data to specified protocols in support of New Product Development and Manufacturing. This position reports to Manager, Fast Trak Validation Services and is part of Global Filter Performance and Lab Ops. located in Harbourgate, Portsmouth and it will be an on-site role.

What you’ll do:

• Review job requests, relevant safety data and fully understand testing requirements in accordance with laboratory SOPs.
• Perform test work according to laboratory request requirements.
• Record raw data directly onto datasheets or electronically, immediately notifying laboratory management of any test delays, problems, or deviations.
• Review timelines and discuss schedule conflicts or modifications with laboratory management (and project manager, where necessary)
• Correctly operate, understand and be able to troubleshoot all equipment/instrumentation necessary to support testing.
• Understand how various laboratory systems (including purchasing, calibration, materials inventory) are maintained.
• Responsibility for maintenance of such a system may be assigned.

Who you are:

• Degree or equivalent in a Biological Science or the equivalent work experience that provides knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories and concepts.
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques and measurement methods.
• Strong analytical skills to analyse test results and interpret data.
• Work safely and comply with the company’s health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
• Conversant with PC based programmes.
• It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in Understanding of GMP regulations.
