Job summary

Cytiva in the United Kingdom (Portsmouth Harbourgate) is seeking a Scientist I to perform basic complexity laboratory projects for New Product Development and Manufacturing. You will generate test data to specified protocols and support validation activities, reporting to the Fast Trak Validation Services manager.

This is an on-site role at Harbourgate, Portsmouth. You will review safety data, follow SOPs, operate equipment, and document results while coordinating with management and project

Qualifications

• Degree in Biological Science or equivalent with knowledge of fundamental lab concepts.
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques and measurement methods.
• Ability to analyse test results and interpret data.
• Commitment to working safely and following HSE policies.

The Scientist I is responsible for basic complexity laboratory projects. Generation of test data to specified protocols in support of New Product Development and Manufacturing. This position reports to Manager, Fast Trak Validation Services and is part of Global Filter Performance and Lab Ops. located in Harbourgate, Portsmouth and it will be an on-site role.

What You’ll Do

• Review job requests, relevant safety data and fully understand testing requirements in accordance with laboratory SOPs.
• Perform test work according to laboratory request requirements. Record raw data directly onto datasheets or electronically, immediately notifying laboratory management of any test delays, problems, or deviations.
• Review timelines and discuss schedule conflicts or modifications with laboratory management (and project manager, where necessary)
• Correctly operate, understand and be able to troubleshoot all equipment/instrumentation necessary to support testing.
• Understand how various laboratory systems (including purchasing, calibration, materials inventory) are maintained. Responsibility for maintenance of such a system may be assigned.

Who You Are

• Degree or equivalent in a Biological Science or the equivalent work experience that provides knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories and concepts.
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques and measurement methods.
• Strong analytical skills to analyse test results and interpret data.
• Work safely and comply with the company’s health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
• Conversant with PC based programmes.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Understanding of GMP regulations
