Associate Scientific Editor

Do you have experience in developmental, cell or cancer cell biology or immunology?

Do you want to be part of a thriving team of editors in a truly interdisciplinary, iconic journal and support authors across our portfolio of Life Science journals?

Location: London or Amsterdam

About Our Team

We are looking for a dynamic scientist, to join the Developmental Cell editorial team and to work with the Research Integrity and Author Experience team. This will provide a unique opportunity to work primarily with one journal but also become familiar with multiple other Cell Press family journals working across a broad range of scientific topics. As a member of the Developmental Cell team, you would help publish the best research in developmental, cell and cancer cell biology and immunology.We are looking for candidates with strong communication skills and research experience in one or more of the topics published by Developmental Cell. As a joint member of our cross-journal Research Integrity and Author Experience team, you will be supporting editors and authors to optimize overall publishing success and work on cross-journal projects and initiatives for Cell Press.

About the Role

Cell Press is an international organization with primary offices in Cambridge, Massachusetts; London; Amsterdam; and Beijing. This is a full-time editorial position, and we have a preference for candidates located near our Amsterdam or London offices. Responsibilities

  • Assessing submissions and overseeing the peer review and editorial process

  • Recruiting exciting research studies and commissioning, and manage a pipeline of high-quality reviews and editorial content

  • Editing manuscripts for scientific message

  • Supporting strategic direction of Developmental Cell

  • Establishing relationships with researchers and representing Developmental Cell and Cell Press at scientific meetings and visits to research institutions

  • Contributing to broader Cell Press initiatives to shape the future of science communication

  • Establishing relationships with diverse editorial teams

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in any area related to developmental, cell or cancer cell biology or immunology

  • Ability to think critically about a wide range of scientific issues

  • Strong communication skills

  • Interest in engaging with the scientific community

  • Talent for distilling complex concepts and communicating them
