Job summary

EMBL-EBI, located on the Wellcome Genome Campus near Cambridge, seeks a Scientific Developer to build robust software infrastructure and automate ChEMBL data releases. You will work with a diverse team of scientists and software engineers to maintain pipelines using Python and Java, ensuring reproducible, high-quality data for chemogenomics resources.

The role involves integrating external chemical databases, documenting workflows, and contributing to training and scientific meetings.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Data Science or related field.
• Experience in cheminformatics or data engineering applied to life sciences.
• Proficiency in Python with cheminformatics libraries (RDKit/Open Babel).
• Experience with relational SQL databases and Git-based workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scientific workflows for data curation, integration and dissemination of group resources.
• Create new solutions to enhance scientific data workflows and publicly disseminate information.
• Maintain scientific software tools for processing and storing chemical/biological data.
• Collaborate with ChEMBL, SureChEMBL and ChEBI teams to resolve data quality issues and integrate external databases.
