British American Tobacco UK is offering an undergraduate internship in Scientific Affairs in Southampton for a fixed-term 12‑month placement, starting September 2027. You will support the development of scientific content, engage in THR science activities, and gain experience in cross-functional collaboration within a vibrant R&D environment.

The role is ideal for students pursuing life sciences with an interest in science communication, regulatory science, and public health, offering mentorship

Qualifications

• Student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biosciences, Pharmacology or similar.
• Interest or existing skills in science communication and content creation would be beneficial.
• Strong communication, project management, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Support development of scientific content and assets (fact sheets, slide decks, summaries).
• Track and summarise emerging THR science, publications and news.
• Assist with amplification of BAT’s science through campus visits/tours.
• Maintain BAT’s scientific content library.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Life Sciences, Product Development and Corporate & Regulatory Affairs.
• Assist with publication planning, abstract tracking and logistics.
