Job summary

New Hall School is seeking a Science Technician to support the teaching of Science across the School. The successful candidate will prepare and maintain laboratory resources, equipment and materials, ensuring practical lessons are delivered safely, efficiently and effectively, while supporting staff and students in the delivery of an engaging Science curriculum.

The role involves assisting in demonstrations, maintaining laboratories and preparing materials for lessons and display activities,

Qualifications

• GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including Mathematics and English (or equivalent).
• Training in a Science or Science-related subject.
• Previous experience in a School or similar educational environment.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates accuracy, discretion and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials, resources and equipment for daily use in the Science Departments.
• Support teachers in the classroom, including during demonstrations and with practical skills.
• Maintain laboratories and preparation rooms, including arranging repairs.
• Issue and track textbooks and other subscriptions.
• Prepare materials for display boards and School Open Days, including taking photographs of Science activities.
• Trial and adapt new practicals and equipment to ensure effectiveness before classroom use.
• Support running of Science co-curricular activities.
• Ensure a safe learning environment and replenish first aid boxes.
• Keep accurate records of safety documentation and conduct safety checks.
• Act as Emergency First Aider for the Science Department(s).
