Job summary

New Hall School is seeking a Science Technician to support teaching across the Science curriculum. The role involves preparing laboratory resources, maintaining equipment, and ensuring practical lessons are delivered safely and efficiently, assisting staff and students to deliver an engaging Science programme.

You will manage materials, assist with demonstrations, keep safety records and support co-curricular activities, with emphasis on accuracy and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• GCSEs grade C/4 or above including Maths and English.
• Training in a Science or Science-related subject.
• Previous experience of working in a school or educational environment.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• High level of accuracy, discretion and attention to detail.
• Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials, resources and equipment for daily use in the Science Departments.
• Support teachers in the classroom, including during demonstrations and with practical skills.
• Maintain laboratories and preparation rooms, including arranging repairs.
• Issue and track textbooks and other subscriptions.
• Prepare materials for display boards and School Open Days, including photographs of Science activities.
• Trial and adapt new practicals and equipment for classroom use.
• Support the running of Science co-curricular activities.
• Ensure the learning environment is safe and replenish first aid boxes.
• Keep accurate records of safety rules and Chemical Safety Data Sheets.
• Conduct monthly, termly and annual safety checks.
• Act as Emergency First Aider for the Science Department(s).
