Job summary

A Norwich-based school is seeking a reliable Science Technician to support its science department with laboratory preparation, equipment maintenance and resource organisation for practical lessons. You will help ensure laboratories are ready for use and that resources are well stored and clearly labelled.

You will work closely with teaching staff, follow health and safety procedures, and assist with safeguarding and background checks as required.

Qualifications

• Experience in laboratory, science or technical roles is advantageous.
• Strong organisational and practical skills.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Awareness of laboratory safety procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions and established processes.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Dependable, methodical and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Prepare apparatus, materials and resources for science lessons.
• Set up equipment for experiments and demonstrations.
• Clean, maintain and store laboratory equipment appropriately.
• Monitor stock levels and report replenishment needs.
• Assist with safe storage and handling of laboratory materials.
• Keep laboratories and preparation areas clean and organised.
• Follow COSHH guidance, risk assessments and health and safety procedures.
• Identify damaged equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Assist teachers with preparing practical activities.
• Maintain records of equipment, supplies and safety checks.
