Job description

Situated in the heart of one of Surrey’s traditional market towns, Reigate College is one of the most successful sixth form providers in the UK, known for quality, success and innovation.

SCIENCE TECHNICIAN MANAGER

Permanent, part-time, term-time only (39 weeks per year)

Hours: 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday

Starting Salary: £24,090.90 (£28,137 FTE). Progression is on an annual increment scale to £25,466.81 (£29,744 FTE) per annum

The College is seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic, and motivated Science Technician Manager to lead the Department. The post holder will work closely with the teachers to facilitate the practical components of the courses and maintain an efficient, safe, and effective service.

The role will include setting up and maintaining equipment, as well as the College’s laboratories in accordance with high standards of health and safety. The post is student facing and applicants must be confident working with young people. A high level of practical and organisational skills is essential. The post holder will need to have a background in science, including handling chemicals and previous experience of working as a Science Technician is highly desirable.

The post is available immediately on a permanent, part-time basis (85.62%). The post holder will be required to work term-time only from 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday (with 45 minutes unpaid lunchbreak). The hours may be adjusted each academic year to ensure coverage during the College Day.
