A large mixed academy in North Birmingham is seeking a Science Technician to support their thriving Science department.

School Description

The academy serves over 1500 students and offers a broad curriculum with strong uptake in the sciences. The school is well-resourced with modern labs, good transport links, and a supportive leadership team.

Science Department Insight

The department includes specialist Biology, Chemistry and Physics teams with multiple well-equipped laboratories. Practical work is central to the curriculum and technicians play a crucial role in ensuring smooth, safe delivery of lessons.

The Role
  • Preparing and setting up equipment and materials for practical lessons
  • Ensuring safe storage / handling / disposal of chemicals (COSHH & CLEAPSS)
  • Maintaining labs including equipment checks, tidiness and stock rotation
  • Supporting teachers during practical lessons
  • Assisting with displays, events and STEM enrichment
