Job summary

Meridian Trust is seeking a dedicated facilities/support role to prepare materials and equipment for lessons, and set up resources as requested by teaching staff. Weekly prep requests with a Thursday deadline are handled, and stock levels are actively managed to support safe, effective learning.

The role includes maintaining equipment, labeling chemicals, ensuring safety regulations are followed, and assisting with administrative tasks and classroom coverage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and provide all materials, resources and practical equipment required for lessons as ordered by the teaching staff.
• Set up equipment if requested and manage weekly prep request sheets with Thursday staff deadline.
• Maintain equipment, glassware and solutions; label chemicals and provide distilled water as required.
• Keep stock levels correct and ensure Health and Safety regulations are complied with.
• Check department equipment, fixtures, fittings and services; report faults to site team and Curriculum Lead.
• Maintain textbooks and provide textbooks in classrooms when requested.
• Undertake stock-taking of stationery, chemicals, glassware, apparatus and textbooks and complete order sheets.
• Undertake photocopying as requested by teaching staff.
• Provide support for supply staff by giving cover work and relevant textbooks and paper.
• Complete administrative tasks such as data inputting and filing.
• Clean practical and preparation areas regularly and participate in training when required.

Job description

• Prepare and provide all materials, resources and practical equipment required for lessons as ordered by the teaching staff. Setting up equipment if requested. These requests will be made by staff on weekly prep request sheets (teaching staff deadline of Thursday for the following week).


• Ensure the proper maintenance of all equipment, glassware, solutions in accordance with good practise and the department safety policy, including labelling of any chemicals, hazard information sheets and providing a supply of distilled water.


• Ensure that correct stock levels are maintained.


• Ensure that the requisite Health and Safety regulations and Codes of Practice are complied with for the safety of all staff and students, and reporting as required, to the Curriculum Lead.


• Make regular checking of department equipment, fixtures, fittings and services. Reporting any faults to the site team and the Curriculum Lead.


• Maintain textbooks and to provide textbooks in the classrooms when requested by the teaching staff.


• Undertake stock-taking of stationery, chemicals, glassware, apparatus and textbooks as requested by the Curriculum Lead. Completing order sheets.


• Undertake photocopying as requested by the teaching staff.


• Provide support for any staff covering lessons by providing them with any cover work set by staff and textbooks, paper, etc.


• Complete various administrative tasks as requested by the teaching staff, eg, data inputting, filing, etc.


• Clean practical and preparation areas regularly.


• Undertaking and participating in any training as and when required.
