Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic Science Teacher to join a successful secondary school in the Dorchester area. The role covers Science across KS3 and KS4, with potential KS5 depending on expertise, starting Sep 2026.

You will deliver engaging lessons, promote enquiry-based learning, and support students towards strong GCSE outcomes in a collaborative department with rich resources.

Qualifications

• A recognised teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, or equivalent).
• Experience teaching Science in a secondary school setting.
• Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or General Science.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Science lessons across KS3/KS4, with KS5 opportunities depending on specialism.
• Plan and deliver creative lessons that promote curiosity and understanding.
• Teach Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, with specialist focus possible at KS4+.
• Differentiate learning and provide effective feedback to support progress.
• Monitor student progress and maintain high behaviour and safety standards.

Salary: £31,650 – £51,048 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)

The Role

As a Science Teacher, you will:

• Deliver engaging and high-quality Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 depending on your specialism and experience.
• Plan and deliver creative lessons that inspire students and encourage a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.
• Teach across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at Key Stage 3, with the opportunity to specialise in your subject area at Key Stage 4 and beyond.
• Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment where students feel motivated to achieve their full potential.
• Use a variety of teaching methods and practical investigations to develop students' scientific knowledge and enquiry skills.
• Monitor, assess, and track student progress, providing effective feedback to support achievement and development.
• Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all students, including those with additional learning needs.
• Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management to promote a positive learning atmosphere.
• Support students in preparing for GCSE examinations and achieving strong academic outcomes.
• Contribute to curriculum development and departmental initiatives aimed at raising attainment and engagement.
• Participate in extracurricular activities, including STEM clubs, science fairs, educational visits, and enrichment opportunities.
