Job summary

Outwood Academy Ormesby is seeking a Teacher of Science on a maternity cover contract. The role is 0.8 FTE (part-time) with a start window of January/February 2027. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality science lessons and supporting student achievement within a busy academy.

The post is temporary until the substantive post holder returns, and the successful candidate will join a committed science team in a supportive environment at Outwood Academy Ormesby, Middlesbrough.

• Deliver high-quality learning using a range of teaching strategies to raise student achievement.
• Teach Science to a mixed-ability cohort in a maternity cover post.
• Contribute to department development and student progress within Outwood Academy Ormesby.

Salary (Actual Salary): £27,255.2 to £42,268 per annum (0.8 FTE MPS-UPS)

Working Pattern: Part Time - 0.8 FTE

About the Department:

Our Science department is energetic and forward thinking. We thrive to inspire our students but find so often that they end up inspiring us!

We have a wealth of knowledge in the department and an array of 6 specialist teachers who are always willing to share their knowledge and support each other. We are proud of our team, our relationships with each other and our students.

The department consists of six teachers and a Science technician. The department benefits from four science labs and two specialist classrooms, as well as a specialist Science technician.
