  • Work within a collaborative department focused on strong academic outcomes and practical learning

About the Position

Our client is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Science Teacher to join a well-established secondary school in Colchester. This opportunity would suit a teacher who is passionate about scientific discovery and enjoys helping pupils understand the world around them through engaging lessons, demonstrations and practical investigations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will help pupils develop a secure understanding of scientific principles while encouraging them to question evidence, interpret results and apply their knowledge to unfamiliar situations. The role requires someone who can balance clear explanations of scientific theory with opportunities for hands-on learning and independent investigation.

You will become part of a department that values teamwork, effective curriculum delivery and the continuous improvement of teaching practice. Teachers are encouraged to share resources, discuss student progress and develop approaches that make challenging scientific topics accessible to learners with different levels of prior attainment.

The school welcomes applications from experienced teachers, ECTs and suitably qualified overseas applicants who possess an appropriate formal teaching qualification.

The School Environment

Located in Colchester, the school serves a mixed intake of pupils and is committed to providing a broad and ambitious education. It aims to combine high academic expectations with a supportive atmosphere in which students can develop confidence, curiosity and a sense of responsibility for their own learning.

The school recognises the importance of Science in preparing pupils for further education, STEM-related careers and informed participation in modern society. Staff are encouraged to make learning relevant, incorporate practical activities wherever appropriate and provide pupils with regular opportunities to develop their scientific vocabulary and analytical skills.

The leadership team values committed teachers who contribute positively to departmental collaboration and the wider school community. This is an opportunity to join an environment where professional development, student progress and effective teaching remain important priorities.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • A Science Teacher able to teach the subject across Key Stages 3 and 4.
