About the Role

Our client is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and well-qualified Chemistry Teacher to join a school in Colchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a science specialist who is passionate about Chemistry and enjoys helping students understand the materials, reactions and processes that shape the world around them.

The successful candidate will deliver lessons that develop students' understanding of atomic structure, the periodic table, chemical bonding, reactions, rates of reaction, quantitative chemistry and other topics appropriate to the school's curriculum. Teaching responsibilities will depend on departmental requirements and may include broader Science teaching alongside Chemistry.

You will be expected to plan purposeful lessons that combine theoretical knowledge with practical application. Through demonstrations, experiments, problem-solving activities and structured questioning, you will help students build confidence in using scientific terminology, interpreting results and explaining chemical phenomena.

The school is looking for a teacher who can make challenging concepts accessible while ensuring that students are appropriately stretched. You will monitor progress, identify misconceptions and provide feedback that helps learners develop stronger scientific reasoning and examination skills.

Practical work is an important part of Chemistry education, so the successful applicant must understand the importance of laboratory safety, appropriate preparation and effective supervision. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to plan learning sequences, share resources and maintain high standards across the department.
