Job summary

Supply Desk is expanding our pool of Science Teachers for secondary schools across Sussex. We are particularly interested in teachers with experience or specialisms in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or General Science.

We work with schools across Brighton, Crawley, Chichester, Worthing and surrounding areas, with opportunities ranging from individual supply days through to longer-term placements. QTS or recognised equivalent is preferred; strong science knowledge, excellent classroom management and

  • QTS or recognised equivalent.
  • Strong science subject knowledge.
  • Experience teaching KS3 and/or KS4.
  • Physics, Chemistry or Biology specialism advantageous.
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Ability to differentiate effectively.
  • Passionate about engaging pupils in Science.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Reliable and adaptable.
  • ECTs and experienced teachers welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons across KS3 and/or KS4.
  • Teach Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics according to your specialism.
  • Adapt lessons for different abilities and learning needs.
  • Deliver practical and theoretical Science lessons safely.
  • Assess and monitor pupil progress.
  • Prepare pupils for GCSE examinations where required.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour and achievement.
  • Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Provide constructive feedback to pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with the Science department.
  • Follow school safeguarding and health and safety procedures.

About the Role

Supply Desk is expanding our pool of Science Teachers for secondary schools across Sussex.
