Job summary

Dibden Park School in Southampton is seeking a Science Teacher to deliver engaging science lessons to pupils with SEMH needs in a nurturing, independent setting. You will monitor progress, adapt teaching strategies and work with families and specialists to support each learner.

The role requires a recognised teaching qualification, strong classroom management and IT skills, plus safeguarding commitment. Driving licence is required; term-time considerations apply.

Job title: Science Teacher Location: Dibden Park School, Southampton SO45 5TD Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata) Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only Start: November 2026 UK applicants only; no sponsorship available

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Deliver engaging Science lessons to individuals and small groups, tailored to students' needs.
  • Monitor, assess and report on student progress, supporting positive outcomes.
  • Develop and implement personalised learning, education and behaviour plans.
  • Create a safe, structured and stimulating learning environment that promotes independence and confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, families and multi-disciplinary teams to support student success.
  • Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and safeguarding while maintaining accurate records and educational standards.
What We’re Looking For
  • Teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS or equivalent) required.
  • Experience planning and delivering lessons within an education setting.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • The ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
  • Excellent organisational and IT skills.

Experience working with students with autism, SEND or challenging behaviour would be advantageous, although not essential.
