Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a methodical Science Technician for a prominent secondary school in Tower Hamlets. You will support Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, prepare reagents, assemble apparatus, manage stock, and assist teachers and Sixth Form students with practical work.

The role is full-time, term-time plus one week, with a pro-rata salary in the local government's scale. A strong science background and lab safety knowledge are essential to help deliver engaging, safe practical

Qualifications

• Strong educational background in Science (A-Level, HND, or University Degree).
• Experience in a science laboratory environment, preferably in school/college/university settings.
• Solid understanding of chemical safety and general lab risk management.

Responsibilities

• Practical Preparation: Assemble apparatus, reagents, specimens and equipment for daily classroom practicals and assessments.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Follow CLEAPSS guidelines, COSHH and safety policies; perform risk assessments and waste disposal.
• Laboratory & Inventory Management: Keep labs clean, monitor stock, assist with ordering and receiving supplies.
• Equipment Maintenance & Calibration: Inspect, clean, calibrate, and service instruments; report faults and arrange repairs.
• In-Class Technical Support: Assist teachers and Sixth Form students with practical demonstrations and independent projects.
