Job summary

Huddersfield Grammar School invites applications for an experienced Science Technician to support Years 7–11. The role focuses on safe, well-organised practical science, equipment preparation and lab maintenance to inspire student curiosity.

You will work with the Head of Science to ensure safe demonstrations, stock control, and effective resource management within a busy prep room and laboratories.

Qualifications

• 5 A GCSEs including Maths, English and Science or equivalent.
• A-Levels or NVQ2 in Laboratory and Related Technical Activities (LATA) or equivalent desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain laboratories, equipment and resources for lessons.
• Assist pupils in practical lessons and demonstrate experiments as directed.
• Ensure correct storage and disposal of chemicals and waste materials; COSHH compliance.
• Monitor stock control, orders and departmental expenditure in line with policy.
