Job summary

Huddersfield Grammar is seeking a Science Technician to support our science curriculum for students from Year 7 to Year 11. You will work closely with the Head of Science to prepare laboratories, maintain equipment, and ensure safe delivery of experiments.

Join a collaborative team focused on high standards of health and safety, exception learning environments, and opportunities for involvement in clubs and long-term science projects. The role is permanent and term-time, with mornings duties.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 5 GCSEs with Maths, English and Science.
• A-Levels preferred for advanced study.
• NVQ2 in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities (LATA) or equivalent desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage storage and maintenance of science equipment and resources.
• Prepare materials for lessons in collaboration with teaching staff.
• Assist students during practical lessons and conduct demonstrations as needed.
• Trial experiments prior to classes to ensure smooth execution.
• Ensure proper storage and disposal of chemicals and waste materials.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of all equipment.
• Support extra-curricular science clubs and assist with laboratory displays.
• Lead the design and maintenance of specialist resources and long-term projects.
• Manage practical resources, including stock control and financial records.

Education

GCSEs (A*-C) including Maths, English, Science

A-Levels (preferred)

NVQ2 in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities (LATA) or equivalent
