Job summary

Flourish Education in Oldbury is seeking Science Graduates to work as Teaching Assistants, Science Intervention Tutors and Cover Supervisors in local secondary schools. You will support KS3/KS4 pupils, deliver science interventions and assist in GCSE revision.

Roles are part-time, flexible and long-term to suit your schedule. Ideal candidates have a UK science degree, understand the national curriculum, and can explain concepts clearly while building rapport with pupils from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Providing one-to-one Science support.

Flourish Education are currently recruiting Science Graduates with a UK university degree and a good understanding of the UK secondary Science curriculum to work as Teaching Assistants, Science Intervention Tutors and Cover Supervisors within secondary schools across Oldbury and the surrounding areas.

Are you a Science Graduate who qualified in the UK and is looking for a flexible way to gain valuable secondary school experience? Perhaps you are considering teacher training and want to experience life in a school before committing to an ITT course. Alternatively, you may be looking for a part-time role working with young people where you can put your Science degree to good use.

This opportunity is based within a secondary school in Oldbury, where you will support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4. The school has a diverse pupil community, and the role would suit a graduate who is confident building positive relationships with young people from a wide range of backgrounds.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Science Graduate who can make scientific concepts accessible and engaging. The role could involve supporting pupils individually or in small groups, delivering Science interventions, helping with GCSE revision or providing additional support to pupils who need help with particular areas of the Science curriculum.

With part-time, flexible and longer-term opportunities available, this role is ideal for graduates who want to gain experience within education while maintaining flexibility around their other commitments.

The role will involve:

Required Skills and Experience for this Science Graduate Teaching Assistant role:
  • Science degree or closely related subject from a UK university
  • Strong understanding of the UK secondary Science curriculum
  • Good knowledge of KS3 and KS4 Science and GCSE content
  • Strong Science subject knowledge
  • Ability to explain scientific concepts clearly and in an accessible way
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Working for Flourish Education as a Teaching Assistant, you will receive:
  • £92.59 to £105day rate, which equates to approximately £17,340 to £20,475per annum based on working 5 days a week for a full school year
  • Full time, flexible and part-time opportunities available
  • Holiday Pay – for PAYE candidates, 12.07% of your day rate is accrued into your holiday pot

This Science Graduate Teaching Assistant opportunity is based in Oldbury, with the school easily accessible from the surrounding areas of the West Midlands.

The role could be easily commutable from Oldbury, West Bromwich, Smethwick, Rowley Regis, Cradley Heath, Tipton, Dudley and surrounding areas.
