Job description

Are you passionate about helping young people thrive? Do you believe in the power of restorative and trauma-informed practice? If you're motivated, enthusiastic, and ready to make a meaningful difference every day, we'd love to hear from you. At Reddish Hall School, we're looking for a compassionate and motivated School Support Worker to join our dedicated team. This is more than a job - it's an opportunity to make a genuine difference every single day. As a School Support Worker, you'll be at the heart of our school community, providing practical, emotional and educational support that enables young people to flourish. No two days are ever the same. One moment you could be supporting a pupil in the classroom to achieve a breakthrough in their learning, and the next you could be helping them navigate challenges, regulate emotions and build the confidence to engage positively with the world around them.

What you will be doing
  • Implement Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) and provide tailored support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Contribute to the school's safeguarding culture by following all safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Deliver structured learning activities and programmes, adjusting to student needs and providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Support the use of ICT to develop students' independence and digital competence
  • Build constructive relationships with parents/carers and share relevant information with the wider staff team
  • Promote inclusion, acceptance, and equal opportunities for all students
  • Supervise students during transitions and unstructured times
  • Assist in developing and applying behaviour management strategies
  • Actively contribute to the ethos, aims, and overall work of the school
What we’re looking for
  • Maths and English GCSE (Grade 4/C and above) or equivalent.
  • A solid standard of English and Maths, along with experience supporting students in a school environment.
  • Strong understanding of restorative and trauma-informed practices, with the ability to promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • The ability to monitor and record student progress, wellbeing, and engagement accurately and professionally, following organisational procedures.
  • A motivated, enthusiastic, and team-focused approach, committed to helping students achieve their full potential and supporting the wider school ethos.
  • Driving licence is desirable
About Reddish Hall School

Reddish Hall School is an independent specialist day school in Stockport for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, often alongside diagnoses such as autism, ADHD and dyslexia. Many of our pupils are academically able but have experienced significant barriers to education because of complex mental-health needs, which may include anxiety, suicidal ideation, self-harm and disordered eating. We offer a nurturing and highly individualised education without compromising on academic ambition. Small classes, skilled teaching and carefully tailored support enable pupils to re-engage with learning and work towards a broad range of meaningful qualifications and future pathways. Academic study is complemented by vocational opportunities and a strong focus on emotional wellbeing, independence and personal development. Reddish Hall is not a traditional SEMH provision. It is a calm, aspirational learning community in which pupils are understood as individuals and supported to feel safe, rebuild confidence and recognise their own potential. Through specialist support and close partnerships with families and other professionals, we help every pupil prepare for a positive and fulfilling life beyond school. Acorn Education offers rewarding careers and meaningful challenges while making a real difference in young people's lives. As a leading UK provider of specialist education for children and young people with special educational needs, and part of Outcomes First Group, we deliver innovative, evidence-based approaches that support measurable progress and lasting impact. We are really proud to say that in 2025 Outcomes First Group were officially certified as a 'Great Place to Work' for the sixth year running.

All applicants will be subject to social media checks and successful applicants to a fully enhanced DBS.
