Job summary

Adecco Group UK & Ireland is recruiting a School Caretaker for a Sidcup location. The role involves opening and securing school buildings, carrying out basic maintenance and decorating tasks, and supervising site operations. Immediate start with an ongoing temporary contract and a rotating shift pattern.

Shifts include trial week 9:00am–5:00pm, then 6:30am–1:30pm and 1:30pm–9:30pm. Candidates must be flexible, DBS enhanced, reliable, and able to work independently.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS certificate required for the role.
• Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work independently.
• Flexible approach to working hours and shifts.
• Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure school buildings each day.
• Carry out basic maintenance, repairs, and decorating tasks.
• Undertake minor repairs to fixtures and fittings.
• Maintain plant and equipment to required standards.
• Keep grounds clean, safe and tidy.
• Conduct routine health and safety checks.
• Set up classrooms and equipment for events.
• Monitor heating, lighting and security systems.
• Respond to day-to-day site issues and requests.
• Liaise with contractors and supervise site visits.
• Manage waste disposal and recycling procedures.
