Job summary

Larwood School is seeking a reliable Site Assistant to support the safe, secure and efficient operation of the site. You will assist with caretaking, maintenance and health and safety duties to ensure a clean, welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors, working with the Site Manager, Headteacher and wider Trust site team.

You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, support security, manage deliveries, prep rooms for events, and assist with after-school lettings.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a school or similar environment.
• Proven ability in site maintenance and DIY tasks.
• Able to work independently and use initiative.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
• Good time management skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Physically able to move and carry furniture and equipment.
• Essential Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Caretaking & general maintenance across the site.
• Carry out minor repairs, painting and furniture replacement.
• Identify and prioritise maintenance works with Site Manager.
• Undertake planned and reactive maintenance with Site Manager.
• Clear blockages, clean drains, respond to spillages.
• Ensure buildings and grounds are clean, safe and litter-free.
• Support wider Trust site team.
• Ensure site security (windows, doors, alarms).
• Maintain safe access in adverse weather (snow clearing, gritting).
• Identify, report and manage health and safety risks.
• Prepare rooms for meetings and events.
• Assist with after-school lettings, emergencies & contractors.
• Participate in appraisal and professional development.
• Work across other Trust sites when required.
