Job summary

Larwood School is seeking a reliable Site Assistant to support the safe, secure and efficient operation of the school site. You will assist with caretaking, maintenance and health and safety duties to ensure a clean, safe and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Working with the Site Manager and Headteacher, you will help maintain buildings and grounds to a high standard and support after-school lettings and events as required.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a school or similar environment.
• Proven ability in site maintenance and DIY tasks.
• Able to work independently and use initiative.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
• Good time management skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Physically able to move and carry furniture and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Caretaking & General Maintenance: carry out general maintenance and DIY tasks; assist in identifying maintenance works; undertake planned and reactive maintenance with the Site Manager.
• Site Safety & Security: maintain site security; ensure safe access during adverse weather; safeguard pupils.
• Health & Safety: identify and report risks; take action to mitigate hazards; comply with policies and statutory requirements.
• Facilities Support: receive deliveries; move items; prepare rooms for meetings and events.
• Emergencies & Contractors: assist with contingency procedures; liaise with contractors and ensure permits are in place.
