Job summary

Lower Farm Academy is seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the day-to-day management, maintenance and safety of our school site, ensuring a clean, secure and welcoming environment for pupils and staff.

You will supervise premises staff, manage contractors, carry out repairs, monitor health and safety compliance, and respond to emergencies. The role requires practical maintenance skills, strong organisational abilities and a proactive, safety‑minded approach.

Qualifications

• Experience in site management, preferably in a school or similar setting.
• Knowledge of health & safety regulations including CoSHH, manual handling, Legionella and asbestos.
• Ability to supervise staff and work effectively with contractors.
• Physically capable of lifting and manual tasks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the school buildings and grounds are clean, tidy and well maintained.
• Implement daily housekeeping and health & safety routines.
• Carry out minor repairs, maintenance and DIY tasks across the site.
• Monitor cleaning standards and supervise cleaning staff as required.
• Manage contractors and oversee small maintenance projects, including obtaining quotes and monitoring work.
• Conduct regular checks, inspections and statutory compliance tasks (e.g. fire alarms, emergency lighting, water hygiene, asbestos, PAT testing).
• Ensure safe access to the school during adverse weather conditions such as snow, ice or flooding.
• Maintain security of the site, including opening/locking the school and responding to emergency call-outs as a keyholder.
• Manage energy usage, recording utilities readings and monitoring consumption.
• Provide porterage, set up rooms for events and ensure deliveries are received and distributed efficiently.
