Step Teachers are seeking a reliable and proactive Site Assistant to support a welcoming school in Enfield. This role focuses on keeping facilities safe, secure, and well maintained, including opening/closing tasks and basic DIY across the site.

Ideal candidates will bring practical maintenance experience, a clear understanding of health and safety, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Weekly PAYE pay and exclusive benefits are provided by Step Teachers.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks across the school site.
• Assist with opening and closing of school buildings when required.
• Ensure the school premises remain safe, clean, secure, and well presented.
• Support health and safety procedures and report any concerns promptly.
• Undertake routine checks of school facilities, equipment, and grounds.
• Assist with setting up rooms and facilities for school events and activities.
• Liaise with contractors and visitors attending the site.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff.
• Support site security procedures and emergency arrangements where necessary.
• Carry out other reasonable duties as directed by the school leadership team.

Duties as a Site Assistant:

• Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks across the school site
• Assist with the opening and closing of school buildings when required

Ideal Site Assistant:

• Previous experience within a caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or site assistant role
• Good practical DIY and maintenance skills
• Understanding of health and safety responsibilities within a workplace
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
• Reliable, proactive, and organised approach to work
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
• Experience working within a school environment is desirable but not essential
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
