Job summary

Teach Now is seeking a reliable and experienced School Site Manager to oversee the premises of a welcoming primary school in Enfield. This is a practical, varied role with responsibility for ensuring the buildings, grounds and facilities remain safe, secure and well maintained.

Key duties include opening/closing the site as a secure key holder, supervising cleaning staff and contractors, coordinating maintenance work, and keeping health and safety records up to date.

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaking, building maintenance or facilities management.
• Practical skills in repairs, maintenance and decorating.
• Knowledge of health and safety, COSHH, fire safety and safe working practices.
• Ability to supervise cleaning staff and contractors.
• Strong organisation, record-keeping and problem-solving.
• Basic IT skills: Word, Excel, Outlook and email.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or equivalent.
• Safeguarding responsibilities understanding.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key holder and manage opening, closing and security.
• Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs and decorating.
• Complete health and safety inspections and maintain compliance records.
• Monitor fire safety systems, emergency lighting, water temperatures and legionella controls.
• Maintain safe and presentable playgrounds, pathways, car parks and external areas.
• Supervise cleaning staff and monitor standards across the school.
• Coordinate contractors, suppliers and planned maintenance work.
• Maintain stocks of cleaning and site materials.
• Prepare facilities for school events, lettings and community use.
• Respond to emergency call-outs and work flexibly.

Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary

Hours: 35 hours per week, all year round

About you

• Previous experience in caretaking, building maintenance, facilities management or a similar role.
• Practical skills in general repairs, maintenance and decorating.
• Knowledge of health and safety, COSHH, fire safety and safe working practices.
• The ability to supervise cleaning staff and contractors effectively.
• Strong organisation, record-keeping and problem-solving skills.
• Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and email.
• A reliable, proactive and trustworthy approach.
• GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or equivalent.
• A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.

Experience within a school or educational setting is desirable. IOSH, first aid, legionella, asbestos awareness or fire safety qualifications would also be advantageous.
