Job summary

A well-established secondary school in Lytham, Lancashire is looking for a reliable Science Technician to join its science department. The role supports lessons by preparing equipment, setting up experiments and ensuring laboratories are safe and well organised.

You will work closely with teaching staff, help students across the science curriculum, and maintain and stock laboratory resources, with a focus on health and safety and practical resource preparation.

Qualifications

• Organised, practical, and confident in a busy secondary school environment.
• Previous experience as a Science Technician or Laboratory Technician is beneficial.
• Good understanding of laboratory safety and careful handling of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Preparing equipment and materials for practical science lessons
• Setting up experiments and demonstrations before lessons
• Supporting teaching staff with practical activities
• Maintaining and organising laboratories
• Cleaning and safely storing scientific equipment
• Monitoring and replenishing laboratory stock
• Ensuring chemicals and other materials are stored correctly
• Carrying out basic checks and maintenance of equipment
• Supporting health and safety procedures within the science department
• Keeping laboratories clean, tidy and fully prepared
• Assisting with the preparation of practical resources
• Reporting damaged or faulty equipment where necessary
