Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is recruiting a Science Technician for a well-resourced secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne. The role focuses on preparing and supporting science practical lessons, maintaining the prep room, and ensuring health and safety compliance in the department.

The successful candidate will have a science degree (desirable), lab experience, and strong organisational skills. Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in practical science laboratory settings.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proactive, methodical and safety-focused approach to work.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team.
• DBS check (Enhanced) or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up equipment, resources, and materials for practical Science lessons.
• Support the delivery of experiments across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and keep the prep room stocked and organised.
• Monitor and uphold health and safety procedures within the department.
• Assist with stock control, ordering supplies, and accurate record-keeping.
• Safely store and dispose of chemicals and materials per COSHH regulations.
• Provide practical support to teaching staff as required.
