Job summary

ARK Schools is seeking a practical maintenance professional to join our facilities team. You will work in a school environment, handling site maintenance, decorating, caretaking, gardening, security, waste management, and even minibus driving.

You will support our sister academy and collaborate closely with the Facilities Manager to keep the site welcoming and well-presented. The role requires hands-on skills across plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting, with a proactive, solution-focused

Qualifications

• Right to work in the UK.
• Basic training in plumbing, general and grounds maintenance, electrical/building maintenance, heating systems.
• Ability to work on own and as part of a team.
• Approachable, adaptable, flexible, and calm with a 'can-do' attitude.
• Solution focused, hardworking, detailed.
• Organised, able to work with minimum supervision.
• Willing to drive and take a MIDAS test.
• Basic computer skills e.g. e-mail, MS Word.

Responsibilities

• Ensure school buildings and grounds are secure and safe at all times.
• Escort visitors and contractors from car park to reception.
• Carry out premises daily and weekly routines.
• Respond to helpdesk tasks promptly.
• Carry out repairs and maintenance as required.
• Maintain a litter-free environment and keep site presentable.
• Undertake emergency cleaning, graffiti removal and ad-hoc cleaning.
• Operate BMS, CCTV, heating, ventilation, lighting, water, drainage and sanitation systems.
• Display appropriate premises signs and notices (eg fire exits).
• Assist with fire evacuations and ensure fire exits are accessible.
• Maintain paths and roads, remove snow and treat ice as needed.
• Notify agencies of pest or vermin problems.
