Job summary

South Hampstead High School is seeking a practical, reliable and proactive Caretaker to join our experienced Site Team. This is a hands-on role maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors, with responsibilities ranging from minor repairs to event set-ups.

You will join a well-organised premises team covering the school day from 6.30am through 6pm on a shift basis, with some flexibility for evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience in premises management or contractor supervision is advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and respond calmly to unexpected issues.
• Must be computer literate and able to drive.
• Good general maintenance and practical skills with pride in workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Respond to maintenance requests and carry out minor repairs.
• Undertake security and compliance checks and support contractors.
• Assist with the set-up of school events and activities.
• Provide porterage, grounds duties and general upkeep of communal areas.
• Work a school-day pattern from 6:30am to 6pm on a shift basis; occasional evenings/weekends.
