Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking a School Premises Manager in Birmingham to oversee daily site operations, ensure safety, and manage routine repairs. You will work with on-site teams and contractors to keep buildings, grounds and utilities functional for pupils and staff.

The role requires proactive problem solving, experience with security systems and health & safety checks. The team operates flexibly with agile practices and a focus on delivering reliable facilities services.

Qualifications

• Experience in site security and building checks.
• Able to liaise with contractors and monitor cleaning standards.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures, including fire systems.
• Flexible and proactive with ability to cover shifts and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the school daily, ensuring buildings and grounds are safe and secure.
• Activate/deactivate alarms and lock doors, windows, and gates at day end.
• Check heating, lighting and hot water systems for functionality.
• Carry out minor repairs and report urgent faults.
• Liaise with on-site contractors and monitor cleaning standards.
• Maintain outdoor areas and ensure safe pathways in adverse weather.
• Perform general portering duties and handle deliveries.
• Complete minor Health & Safety checks and records (fire, emergency lighting).
• Provide cover for lettings, emergencies and other schools as required.
