Job summary

TeacherActive is working with an OFSTED Outstanding Special School in Swindon that supports children and young people aged 3 to 19 with a wide range of additional needs. The school is looking to appoint a full-time Personal Care Assistant to join their dedicated team with an immediate start.

You will provide in-school support to pupils throughout the school day, assisting with personal care, supporting learning in the classroom, encouraging communication and social interaction, and helping

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a care, support, education or personal care role
• A caring, patient and respectful approach to supporting children and young people with additional needs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience supporting pupils with complex needs or a willingness to learn specialist care techniques
• A willingness to undertake training in manual handling, medication administration and other specialist procedures
• A positive, flexible attitude and a genuine commitment to inclusion and supporting learning

Responsibilities

• Provide in-school support to pupils throughout the school day, assisting with personal care
• Support learning in the classroom, encouraging communication and social interaction
• Help pupils access lessons and therapeutic activities, including mealtimes and mobility
• Assist with hydrotherapy and physiotherapy sessions
