Job summary

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is seeking a compassionate School Nurse Support Worker to join the Children, Families and Justice health team. Based at Kilbirnie Health Centre, you will support primary school‑aged children and families to improve health and wellbeing.

You will work with the School Nursing Team in homes, schools, clinics and community settings, delivering evidence‑based programmes and providing guidance to families to build resilience and confidence.

Qualifications

• SVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, Healthcare Support, Childcare, or equivalent experience.
• Experience of working with children and families in the community.
• Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Knowledge of health and social care services available for children and families.
• Understanding of child development and factors affecting health and wellbeing.
• Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
• Ability to work on own initiative, unsupervised and in line with job description.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with children, families and professionals.

Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a School Nurse Support Worker based at Kilbirnie Health Centre and will cover North Ayrshire. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated individual to join our Children and Families Health Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside our School Nursing Team, supporting children, young people and families to achieve the best possible health and wellbeing outcomes.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering targeted support to primary school-aged children and their families. Working both independently and alongside colleagues, you will help families build confidence and resilience through evidence-based programmes and interventions, including Togetherness, HENRY (Health, Exercise and Nutrition for the Really Young), sleep support and toileting programmes.

You will work closely with children, parents and carers, providing practical support, encouragement and guidance while helping families work towards goals identified by the School Nurse. This is a rewarding role where you will have the opportunity to build trusting relationships and make a lasting impact on children's physical, emotional and social wellbeing.

We are seeking someone who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and families, values partnership working and enjoys working across a variety of settings.
