Job summary

Strategy Education Ltd. is recruiting a School Medical Officer for a mixed secondary school in Harwich, Essex. The role is full-time with a timetable 8am–4pm Monday to Thursday and 8am–3.30pm Friday.

The successful candidate will manage student medication, provide First Aid, and liaise with parents and medical professionals. Experience in schools and an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent is required. DBS checks and safeguarding duties apply.

Qualifications

• First Aid at Work qualification
• Experience of working with children in a school environment
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification/experience
• Good knowledge of appropriate procedures, regulations

Responsibilities

• Take charge of the safekeeping and administration of student medication with parental consent.
• Administer First Aid to students and staff as needed.
• Oversee all matters relating to sick or injured children.
• Liaise with parents and medical personnel as required.
• Create Care Plans with parents and healthcare providers for students with specific medical needs.
• Advise and train school staff in procedures for absence of a trained first aider
