Job summary

Newcastle City Council is seeking a Catering Assistant for Walbottle Academy in Newcastle. The role is 1 x 10 hours per week, term time only, Monday to Friday 11:45am–1:45pm, site-specific.

You will work as part of the School Meals team with no prior experience required; full training will be provided. You will assist with washing, food prep, serving meals to children and maintaining kitchen hygiene, as well as dining room duties.

Qualifications

• No experience required; full training provided.
• Willing to undergo DBS check and recruitment checks.
• Ability to work in a school environment and maintain hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Wash catering equipment and general cleaning of the kitchen.
• Assist the chef with food preparation and maintain hygiene standards.
• Serve food to children and describe the meals.
• Clean the dining room and set up/tidy dining area; move furniture as needed.
• Regular bending, stooping, lifting and carrying as part of duties.
